Wall art made with vintage silk kimono.
The blue and black pattern is called Yabane / Yagasuri (Arrow Feathers) and has the symbolism of "aiming for a target" and arrows have been used as an auspicious pattern in traditional garments. In the Edo period, kimono with this pattern was said to be given to a bride in the hope that she does not return home just like a straight-shooting arrow. Vivid yellow flowers give a nice contrast to the geometric Yabane pattern. This fabric is from the 1950s. Vintage kimono fabrics might have some blemishes, however we try to use the best preserved part. Please send us a message if you have any questions.
