About our fabrics (Care Instructions)

Most of our products are made with vintage 100% pure silk kimono / lining / sash (Obi). We occasionally pick wool or cotton kimonos or obi for our creations. We use pre-loved and abandoned vintage kimonos from the 1930's to the 1990's, all sourced in Japan. Due to its age, please understand that our crafted items may have small imperfections. They may have small blemishes, age spots, scratches, some thread left, smudges from painting. They are also made with delicate materials. We try our best to make one of a kind items using the best preserved part of the fabric. But if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

How to care: SILK / WOOL / COTTON

Avoid washing as the colour may bleed. For our clothing items, we recommend to dry clean.

If needed, wash gently in cold water by hand with mild, non-alkaline detergent (or baby shampoo). Wash by shaking it gently in the water. Do not rub or squeeze. Gently press water out and lie on towels, flattening and pressing to get excess water out. Then lay flat and air dry. Do not bleach, do not use the dryer. For home decor items, please make sure to keep them out of direct sunlight to avoid discolouration.
When your silk product gets wrinkles, you can iron it with a silk/low setting on your iron. If possible, iron it from the back side by placing a handkerchief or thin piece of cotton cloth. For our Shibori products, please avoid ironing directly as this will lead to fabric losing the special texture. We recommend to iron with steam very lightly.
