This is a wall art made with a vintage silk lining of a kimono jacket from the 1940s.
In Japanese traditional garments, not only the outer fabrics but linings have always been a part of the fashion. Despite the fact that it is not often visible, Japanese people have put a lot of effort into having very unique fashionable linings. This wall art catches anyone's eye with its use of vivid colours and the detail of the design on these traditional Japanese fans called "Ougi". When Ougi is opened, it widens toward the end thus symbolizing a brighter future and good fortune. A fan was used often in traditional dancing and religious ceremonies in Japan, making it an essential tool for the entertainment industry in classical Japanese culture. Stencil dyeing techniques are used here to create this unique design.
The fabrics we use are in excellent condition, though sometimes there are small marks, blemishes, and or creases indicative of the fabric's rich history. If you have any questions or concerns, please send us a message.
